Subcommittees of the Frog Hollow Neighborhood Revitalization Zone Committee & their Functions

The Committee has six subcommittees that focus on specific issues related to the NRZ and that do the majority of the work to implement the Committee’s strategic plan.  Membership on the subcommittees is open to any and all who are interested in the issues these subcommittees confront.  These subcommittees meet regularly, but their schedule of meetings is subject to change. Please contact the chairs of the subcommittees about meeting times and locations, as well as with any questions you might have about their activities. Oversight:
— Oversees the Committee’s policies and procedures
— Oversees and coordinates implementation of the Strategic Plan

Communication:
— Public relations
— Promotes the Committee’s activities
— Reaches out to potential stakeholders within the NRZ

Property Development:
— Reviews proposed property development projects within NRZ
— Considers potential waivers of code to request City or State grant to assist    development projects
— Assesses deteriorated and vacant properties for possible action under the    anti-blight program and eminent domain

Community and Economic Development:
— Reviews potential opportunities for new business within NRZ
— Works to increase access of residents to educational resources within and     beyond NRZ

Public Safety:
— Works with Hartford Police Department on crime and quality-of-life issues    and to identify hot spots within NRZ
— Considers deteriorated and occupied properties for possible action under    nuisance abatement and rent receivership

Livability:
— Works to increase and enhance greenspaces and streetscapes within NRZ
— Addresses parking and public transportation concerns within the NRZ
